1. What is Dr. Spooky's?
Dr. Spooky's is a one-of-a-kind,
8,000 s.f. educational attraction where we teach you about the 10 major
animal groups.
Basically, Dr. Spooky's is a biology/science class immersed in a fun,
themed
environment! You'll also find caves filled with dinosaur artifacts
and
information. Dr. Spooky's is the only attraction of its kind in the
country!
Dr. Spooky's - where education meets entertainment!
2. Is it scary?
Not at all. Nothing will jump out and
startle you. The only
things that are moving are the live animals - and they are all safe
within
glassed front enclosures. As a matter of fact, a good number of our
visitors
range from 3 - 6 year olds - and they absolutely love Dr. Spooky's!
3. What ages are appropriate?
Dr. Spooky's is truly appropriate
for all ages!
There are two types of reading formats at each exhibit: very simple,
easy
reading for young children and lazy adults and advanced reading for
those
looking for more detailed information.
4. What kinds of animals do you have?
Dr. Spooky's is
home to very unique animals. Our exhibits periodically change. Currently,
some of our live
animals include bats, flying squirrels, the world's smallest mice,
the
world's largest spider, fish, insects, and reptiles. All of our animals
represent one of the 10 major animal groups in the animal kingdom.
5. How long does it take to visit?
Dr. Spooky's includes
options for both
easy reading and detailed descriptive reading. Depending on which format
you
choose, your visit may be 45 min. to 1 hour and up to 3 hours.
6. What dinosaur exhibits do you have?
Dr. Spooky invites
you to walk through
caves filled with dinosaur artifacts - all of which are left exposed
so you
can actually feel them! Each cave features a different theme. Learn
about
prehistoric ocean dwellers, dinosaur eggs, flying dinosaurs, as well
as
dinosaur teeth, feet and claws and of course, T-Rex! And don't forget
our T-
Rex encounter! Enter this optional cave and you'll step back in time!
Find
yourself in a research tent deep in the Jurassic Jungle where you'll
hear
and FEEL a T-Rex fight with another dinosaur! Don't worry
- you're safe as
can be in your tent (only 5 kids missing so far this month...)
7. Who is Dr. Spooky?
Dr. Spooky is our zany time traveling
professor who
built and cares for our museum! He has been nicknamed Dr. Spooky because
he
loves animals that most people think are "creepy" or "spooky" like
bats,
spiders, snakes and mice. It is Dr. Spooky's goal to educate his visitors
and
to show that they do not need to fear these animals. Dr. Spooky wants
his
visitors to marvel at these animals and their unique characteristics.
As the
great Dr. Spooky has said "All animals are amazing in their own way!"
8. Are you handicap accessible?
